Patiala ,October 4.Even as the infectious spread of deadly Novel Corona Virus disease has started showing signs of somekind of improvement with recovery rate of 88.5 percent & death rate of 2.8 percent in this district, but Sunday saw Nine more COVID-19 deaths including five women taking total to 342 and with reporting of 78 new positive cases in the district total of patients have gone upto 11,859.Whereas with 123 more patients after winning their fight against Corona were discharged and sent home from covid care centers taking total cured patients to 10,507. Besides total of active cases also stand at 1,016.The Covil Surgeon, Dr. Harish Malhotra while providing details about the same here on Sunday told that today reports of 1,000 samples were received out of these found 78 new positive cases. He added that out of these 41 cases were reported from different areas of Patiala, 5 from Rajpura, 6 from Nabha, 2 from Samana , fourth each from block Bhadson and block Kauli, 1each from block Kallo Majra and block Shutrana, Block Harpalpur 9 and block Dudhan Sadhan 5.He further stated that out of these 10 cases came from contact tracing earlier positive cases and 68 others from containment zone areas and OPD’s with Flu Symptoms and their shifting and admissions into covid care centers and home quarantine is going on along with contact tracing and sanitization of the respective areas as well.Whereas talking about nine more deaths reported today, he said that out of these five reported from different areas of Patiala and one each respectively from Rajpura, Nabha, block Kauli and block Dudhan Sadhan. He added that these includes five women and all deaths reported from different hospitals as all the patients were under treatment for various chronic diseases during which they got Corona infection and died. He claimed that the last rites of all the deceased were strictly got performed as per new COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government.Dr. Malhotra stated that today teams of the health department have collected 700 more samples in the district and these were sent into Lab for testing purpose, whereas reports of 650 samples are still pending.
