A spokesperson for the Punjab Government disclosed this information, mentioning that the issue regarding the recruitment of 5994 teachers was discussed in a hearing before a double bench headed by Hon’ble Justice Deepak Sibal and Hon’ble Justice Amarjot Bhatti today.
Senior Deputy Advocate General Ramandeep Singh Pandher, representing the Punjab government, argued that decisions similar to the one taken by the Punjab government have already been pronounced by various courts. Hence, he asserted that this matter should also be settled.
Due to non-sitting of the regular bench of Honorable Justice Deepak Sibal and Honorable Justice Sukhwinder Kaur, the court fixed the next hearing of this case on January 30, 2024. The Court also indicated that if the Supreme Court does not deliver a decision by January 30, 2024, the next hearing date, they will decide whether to proceed with the writ petition filed in the 5994 case.
Pertinently, the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively working to expedite the recruitment process. School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains is personally supervising the matter with departmental officials and the Advocate General’s office to resolve the case promptly.
