Patiala ,03 Oct 2020 -The Lok Sabha Member from Patiala Preneet Kaur on Saturday said that the Modi Government had betrayed the farmers of Punjab , who contributed by filling up the foodgrains of the country and did not allow the country to beg from any foreign country in testing times of food crisis.  She was interacting with the media persons here today on the occasion of flagging off the cycle rally organised by the  Mayor of the Municipal Corporation , Sanjeev Sharma Bittu from Raghomajra to create awareness against Dengue dedicated to her birthday.
Describing the agriculture laws passed by the Union government as anti-farmer and far-sighted, the Lok Sabha member said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had played the role of an irresponsible leader by passing the law which would have dire consequences.  She said that Modi government had laid the foundation of the ruin of farmers by ignoring its background before passing these laws.  Preneet Kaur said that the Congress Government of Punjab under the leadership of Capt. Amarinder Singh would fight the battle of farmers with full support of the farmers.
Replying to a query about the strategy adopted by the Akali Dal and the visit of Rahul Gandhi to Punjab, Preneet Kaur said that the proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi to Punjab to lead a tractor rally was a non-political decision to support the peasant movement.  However, the resignation of Harsimrat Kaur from the Union Cabinet should have been made a long time ago.  She said that Akali Dal had already lost its political base and now it has lost its credibility too.  Whereas strongly condemning the Hathras gangrape in UP,  She further said that the culprits should be punished severely.
On the other hand while accepting the birthday wishes extended to her by a large number of Patiala residents on the occasion her birthday, the MP thanked them all and reiterated the entire Patiala as a part of her family.  Reiterating his commitment for the development of Patiala city and district, She said that all round development was being carried out in the district by the Punjab Government.  She called upon the people to take precautionary measures against the deadly epidemic of Corona and to keep their homes and surroundings clean to prevent Dengue.
More than 500 cyclists took part in a bicycle rally organized by Municipal Corporation Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu dedicated to the birthday of Lok Sabha member Preneet Kaur. Awareness against Dengue was spread through various markets starting from Hanuman Mandir and ended at Qila Chowk.  Prominent artist Hobby Dhaliwal, the brand ambassador of Patiala MC for the Swachhta campaign, specially participated on the occasion.
Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu said that Patiala city has been suffering from political discrimination for 10 consecutive years but after the formation of the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, the promises made before the elections under the guidance of Preneet Kaur and her daughter, Jayinder Kaur were fulfilled. Bittu said that beautification of Jacob Drain in the city, beautification of Chhoti and Barri Nadi, two new bridges, under bridge on Rajpura Road, canal water project, Heritage Street, resolving of issue of main dumping ground, supply of  water in each house in the city and providing of sewerage connections are the major works that have been done.
The Mayor was accompanied by Deputy Mayor ,Vinti Sangar, Municipal Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur and Joint Commissioners , Avikesh Gupta and Lal Vishwas.
Earlier, many a resident donated their blood voluntarily at Blood Donation Camp that was organised at the Municipal Corporation office to mark the birthday of Patiala MP .
On this occasion, PRTC  Chairman K.K.  Mr. Sharma, Chief Minister’s OSD , Amrit Pratap Singh Honey Sekhon, Private Secretary to Lok Sabha Member , Balwinder Singh, Chairperson Punjab Social Welfare Board , Gursharan Kaur Randhawa, Patiala urban Congress President ,K.K.  Malhotra, District Planning Committee Chairman , Santokh Singh, Sonu Sangar, Senior Vice Chairman Punjab Large Industry Development Board, K.K.  Sehgal, Block President Naresh Duggal, Atul Joshi, Roop Kumar, Youth Congress President Anuj Khosla, Nikhil Batish Sheru, Jaswinder Randhawa, Ginny Nagpal, Ashwani Mickey, Harish Kapoor, Sandeep Malhotra, Harish Agarwal, Prof. Shamindar Singh, Satpal Verma, President Youth Federation of India Parminder Bhalwan, Jatwinder Grewal and  large number of citizens and cyclists participated enthusiastically.
