Sangrur, August 15:
School education and public works minister Punjab Mr. Vijay Inder Singla hoisted the national flag on the occasion of 74th Independence Day here at Police Lines stadium, Sangrur. The cabinet minister also paid tributes to martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during freedom struggle. While addressing Sangrur residents, the cabinet minister said that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has been working tirelessly for the betterment of state residents. He added that the timely imposition of curfew has also helped to provide better healthcare facilities during Covid-19 outbreak. He also thanked doctors, medical staff, administrative officials and social organizations for their assistance as Corona Warriors.
Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that during Covid-19 pandemic, the education department has also started online classes with the help of TV channels and internet which helped to save precious of students. He said that with the due efforts of teachers and other staff, the department has increased 13.5 percent admissions in government schools for the first time in history. He said apart from education, the government has also ensured timely procurement of wheat crop and also assisted farmers with cashless insurance of Rs. 5 lakh. He added that around 4624 crore rupees loan of famers have been waived off and 75,000 agriculture implements are being distributed to curb stubble burning menace.
During the function, the cabinet minister also honoured the winners of ‘Ambassadors of Hope’ from 8 districts of Malwa including Sangrur, Patiala, Bathinda, Mansa, Faridkot, Mukatsar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Barnala. Top three winners from each district have been awarded with Apple iPad, Laptop and Android pad, respectively. Mr. Singla also distributed cheques of Rs. 5,100 to as many as 17 students of class XII from Sangrur district who had scored more than 98 percent numbers.
