Mansa 26 June 2021-On the day of “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,” Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Narinder Bhargav, IPS told that in compliance with the directions of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab Capt. Amrinder Singh and Director General of Police, Punjab Shri Dinkar Gupta, IPS, “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” has been celebrated.
More than 145 big hoardings, Banners and Posters were displayed for the awareness of the public against Drug menace. Similarly, 3740 banners/posters and pamphlets were distributed to inspire the young and literate generation towards the sports and physical activities/works instead of indulging in drug abuse.
SSP Mansa further told that the Public is being inspired to avoid drugs by way of conducting awareness rallies (with due precautions of COVID-19). Mansa Police has conducted 351 Drug De-addiction Seminars in various villages/cities of the District. With the help of Health department, 168 drug addicts have been sent to OOAT Centers for treatment. Total 17544 Drug Abuse Prevention Officers are designated under DAPO Scheme, there are total 19971 BUDDY Groups having 101212 BUDDYs. They all are bound to keep vigil to control the Drug menace.
SSP, Mansa also told that the boundaries of district Mansa are adjoining to Haryana state and most of the drugs are coming through border roads. Mansa Police has already sealed the boundaries of District Mansa by way of 38 day and night Nakabandies to control every drug smuggler. Mansa police carries out continuous search operations resultantly many cases are being registered against the Drug Paddlers.
Dr, Bhargav said, during the campaign w.e.f. 25.06.2020 to 26.06.2021, total 302 cases under NDPS Act have been registered and 441 drug smugglers were arrested. From their possession, 263 gm Heroin (Chitta), 11 Kg 150 gm opium, 700 kg. 300 gm poppy husk, 249311 intoxicant pills, 7 kg 540 gm Ganja, 130 gm smack and 55 gm Sulfa have been recovered. Similarly, under Excise Act, 925 cases have been registered and 996 persons have been arrested and 66 Nos. of working still, 42948 ltr. Lahan, 2378 ltr illicit liquor and 15910 ltr licit liquor have also been recovered.
SSP, Mansa further told that in compliance with the orders of Government of Punjab, Hon’ble Director General of Police, Punjab and Inspector General of Police, Bathinda Range, Bathinda, Zero Tolerance policy has already been adopted to curb the
drug menace. Apart from taking strict action against smugglers and anti social elements involved in drug abuse, general public, especially the young generation, is being inspired to avoid every kind of drug so that a strong and well educated nation is built. So let us say “No to Drugs and Yes to Life” on this special day of international importance, SSP Mansa said.
