Ferozepur, November 5, 2020: On all India call for Chakka Jam, the farmers in this area blocked the national highway at Bengali Wala Pul near Hari Ke headworks and disconnecting the traffic between Malwa and Majha regions. In today’s protest by Kisan Sangharsh Committee Punjab completely blocked from 12 noon to 6 pm by Makhu and Zira zone farmers.
While Chief Minister, Punjab is sitting on dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, on the refusal of President of India to give a time for a dialogue over three Farm Bills and on-going agitation by the farmers which will have repercussions on the national food security due to the suspension of goods trains, the farmers’ outfits have given an all India call for protest for November 5.
Added here, the farmers had been protesting for withdrawal of three Farm Bills for the last more than one month under its rail roko morcha which was lifted only for movement of goods trains for two days. With the blockage of goods trains at certain places, the railways took a decision to stop the inward movement of goods trains on the plea that the railway cannot work on the farmer’s terms. However, the railways have lauded the peaceful protest by the farmers as there was no loss of property except the revenue loss of Rs.1200 crore. Moreover, there is uncertainty over the survival of the State without the coal and agriculture inputs supplies and lack of space for storage of foodgrains in the absence of non-movement of stocks from Punjab.
Addressing the protesters, Jasbir Singh Pidhi Vice President, District President, Inderjit Singh Bath and Baljinder Singh Talwandi Nepalan said, we will not allow the fulfill the plans of the Modi government over the black law introduced to spoil the agriculture profession.
Farmer leaders condemning the ordinance of a fine of Rs.1 crore and five years imprisonment for stubble burning said, it is not only the farmer, the various industrial units are also polluting the environment and it is very unfortunate to hold responsible only the farmers’ community. They said, we will continue to fight for the cancellation of three farm bills and will not hesitate to sacrifice our lives.
