Ferozepur, September 19, 2020: Continuing its spree against the illegal liquor in the state, after taking a lesson from the hooch tragedy in Tarn Taran and Amritsar, a joint raid was conducted by the Excise and Police department today recovered a major haul of 3 lakh litres of lahan and the same was destroyed.
Divulging the details a spokesperson of the Excise Department said a joint teams of Police and Excise department destroyed 3 lakh liters of ‘lahan’ recovered in the enclaves of the confluence of Sutlej and Beas at Harike and destroyed.
The spokesperson further said during the joint raid, the recovery of 100 tarpaulins, 15 iron drums 9 silver utensils, approximately 100 qtls of dry wood and 10 wooden boats taken into custody.
A case in this regard has been registered at PS Harike and further proceedings have been initiated under the law. As per the sources, no arrest has been made during the raid and the case has been registered against the unknown persons.
“Action against illegal liquor will continue in the coming days till the state is not made free from this scourge” added the spokesperson.
