In the campaign against liquor mafia and drugs smuggling, Mansa Police received huge success by arresting 27 persons and registering 32 cases in total, across various Police Stations. 3730 intoxicating pills, 1945 liters of Lahan and 640 Bottles of illicit Liquor have been recovered by the Mansa Police.
Immediately after resuming charge as SSP Mansa, Shri Surendra Lamba, IPS, initiated a campaign against the drug peddlers, bootleggers and cross border liquor smugglers. He stated that as per the Policy of the Punjab Government and directions of Hon’ble Director General of Police, Punjab Shri Dinkar Gupta, IPS, a policy of Zero tolerance towards drug menace has been adopted and a special campaign against Drug smugglers, peddlers and liquor mafia will continuously be carried out by the Mansa Police.
During this campaign, a Police party from PS Bareta recovered 3150 intoxicating pills from one Amandeep Kaur @ Lovely Sharma w/o Amritpal Singh r/o Shekhupur Khudal. The accused has been taken in Police custody alongwith her Scooty used for drug paddling. An FIR against her has been lodged at Police Station, Bareta.
Similarly a Police team from PS Sadar Mansa arrested one Chamkaur Singh @ Bilttu s/o Kewal Singh r/o Nangal Kalan and 380 Clovidol tablets have been recovered from him. A team from PS Joga has also recovered 200 intoxicating pills from Reshma Kaur w/o Jaggi Singh r/o Joga. In all the 3 cases, FIRs under NDPS Act have been registered and further investigation is going on.
At the same time , Mansa Police initiated a campaign against Liquor mafia and total 27 cases in this concern have been registered in which 22 accused have been arrested. Total recovery of licit, illicit liquor and Lahan recovered on Saturday only is more than 1945Ltrs. including 240 Bottles of liquor smuggled in Punjab from the adjoining Haryana state. SSP Mansa Shri Surendra Lamba , IPS, emphasized that this crackdown against liquor and Drug mafia will be continued on regular basis. He also appealed to the citizens, social organisations and all other stakeholders in the District to come forward and render help to the Mansa Police to curb the drug abuse.
