Awards will be given to 05 best books of different genres

Under the Best Book Awards presented by the Punjab Government to books in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu languages every year through the Language Department, Punjab, the department has announced the Best Hindi and Urdu Book Awards (2025). In this regard, Director, Language Department, Punjab S. Jaswant Singh Zafar, informed that these awards will be presented during the state-level inaugural function of Punjabi Month of Conclusion Ceremony November 2025 at Bhasha Bhawan, Patiala. He said that for these awards, books published during the previous year were sought for the Best Hindi and Urdu Book Awards and these books were evaluated by scholars from various fields and the best books were selected. This award will carry a plaque and a shawl along with prize money of Rs. 31,000/-. It is worth mentioning that these awards will be given to the 04 best Hindi books related to different genres of Hindi language published in the year 2024. Total 26 books of different genres were received for these awards. 03 books were received for 01 award in Urdu.
Under the Best Hindi Book Awards announced, Giani Sant Singh (Poetry) Award was given to ‘Kamal Puri’s book ‘‘Chaak Par Chadhe Shabad’’ Sudarshan Galp (Novel/Story) Award was given to ‘Anant Sharma Anant’s’ book ‘‘Ghar-Ghar ki Kahani’’, Indernath Mdaan (Criticism/Editing/Knowledge/Search) Award was given to ‘Dr. Nitu Rani’s’ book ‘‘Shri Lal Shukl ke Sahitya Mai Rajneetik Chetna ke Swar’’ and Baba Fateh Singh (Children’s literature) Award was given to ‘Sushil Kumar Phull’s’ book ‘‘Lalkaar’’.
Under the Best Urdu Book Award announced Hafiz Mehmood Shirani (Criticism) Award was given to ‘Dr. Kahkshan Falak’s’ book ‘‘Urdu Afsana Aur Punjab’’.
S. Jaswant Singh Zafar said that the best book awards of different languages given by the department every year will be given during the Punjabi Month celebrations. It is worth mentioning that all the best book awards of Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu have been announced by the department. He congratulated all the award winners and appealed to continue making continuous efforts for the promotion of different languages.
