Chandigarh, August 7
Punjab Labour Minister Anmol Gagan Mann directed Labour Department officials to organize one-day camps at building sites every week to register construction workers. Presiding over a meeting with labour department officials, Ms. Mann emphasized the significant contribution of construction workers to the state’s development and the need to maximize their benefits from various welfare schemes.
The Cabinet Minister instructed senior officials to amend the conditions for availing welfare schemes, making it easier for construction workers to access them. She also addressed the issue of skilled workers’ shortage in Punjab, raised by investors and ordered the preparation of data on the industry’s requirement for skilled workers within a week.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Labour Department Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Labour Commissioner Punjab Rajeev Kumar Gupta, and other officials.
