CHANDIGARH, November 29:
Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Gurkirat Singh on Monday directed the Public Works Department (PWD) of Punjab and Union Territory (UT) Chandigarh to expedite the ongoing renovation of Shaheed Beant Singh Memorial located at Sector 42 here.
The Cabinet Minister chaired a meeting at his office to review the ongoing revamping works of the Memorial. Chief Engineer-cum-Special Secretary Cultural Affairs UT CB Ojha, Chief Engineer PWD Punjab (B&R) Param Arora and Chief General Manager Tourism and Cultural Affairs Punjab SK Chadha were present in the meeting.
Industries Minister Gurkirat Singh asked the concerned officials to complete the landscaping and cordoning-off the block work around the Samadhi on priority and also directed them to construct the VIP Toilets at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Minister also asked PWD officials of both Punjab and UT to submit the expenditure estimates for the Memorial so that funds can be allocated timely.
