Hoshiarpur: Police bust massive Arms Smuggling Network, 5 arrested with 10 pistols, magazines & live roundsĀ
Hoshiarpur, July 30, 2021: The Hoshiarpur police on Friday busted a massive network of arms smuggling with its roots in Uttar Pradesh with the arrest of five persons besides recovering 10 pistols, magazines, and live rounds.
While interacting with the media persons here at Police Lines, SSP Navjot Singh Mahal said that under the campaign initiated by Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta against the anti-social elements the police nabbed these accused.
He said that the supervision of ASP Garhshankar Tushar Gupta led to apprehend two accused by a police team of Garhshankar police station two persons Sukhpal Singh r/o Model Town Anandpur Sahib, Ropar and Amrinder Singh r/o Burj PS Anandpur Sahib on July 26 and recovered two pistols with six live rounds.
An FIR under section 25-54-59 Arms Act was registered against them. They disclosed that they had brought these pistols from Shamshad Ansari r/o Uttar Pradesh.
Accordingly, Tushar Gupta IPS ASP Sub Division Garhshankar along with Insp. Shiv Kumar Incharge CIA Staff and police team arrested Shamshad Ansari r/o Meerut from Meerut (U.P) and recovered 05 Pistols 32 bore with 10 live rounds and 05 spare magazines, he added.
On the disclosure statement of Mohammad Shamshad Ansari, Ashwani Kumar @ Sarpanch r/o Khidrapur PS Pehova District Kurukshetra and Mohammad Asif r/o Sahibwala District Ghaziabad who was also apprehended on 30/07/21 with 01 Skoda car No. UP-14-BW-0906, 02 pistols 09mm, 01 locally made pistol 30 bore with 10 live rounds 30 bore.
Accused Ashwani Kumar disclosed that he had supplied 09 pistols to the gangsters of Punjab in the preceding months, which is being followed.
“Hoshiarpur Police has taken a very strong stance against gangsters and their network of arms smuggling and has registered 13 cases and recovered 42 pistols, 08 magazines, and 184 rounds and a severe crackdown is being brought down to maintain peace, law, and order in the district,” SSP Navjot Mahal said.
