Grand Nagar Kirtan Dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s Eternal Message says DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka

Sri Anandpur Sahib November 13, 2025

The sacred “Dharam Rakhiak Yatra,” dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, was ceremoniously inaugurated today at Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal, Sri Anandpur Sahib. The yatra began in the divine presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and with Panj Pyare in attendance, in the form of a grand Nagar Kirtan (religious procession).

This spiritual journey has been organized by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee as part of extensive preparations marking the 350th year of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s supreme sacrifice.

A large number of devotees, including representatives from various Sikh sects, organizations, and Kar Sewa groups, took part in the magnificent Nagar Kirtan. The air resonated with chants of “Sri Waheguru Ji” as hymns in praise of the Guru filled the atmosphere.

DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka, while addressing the gathering, said, “It is by the boundless grace of Guru Sahib that this Yatra begins from the sacred place where Kashmiri Pandits once approached Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, seeking protection of their faith. This Yatra is not merely a Nagar Kirtan, but a journey symbolizing the Sikh Panth’s valor, sacrifice, and universal goodwill.”

He further informed that the Nagar Kirtan will travel through various regions of Punjab, halting overnight at Gurdwara Manji Sahib in Ambala, Haryana. On the morning of November 14, it will proceed towards Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Delhi, the hallowed site where Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of religious freedom.

Sardar Kalka announced that on November 23, 24, and 25, grand commemorative events will be held at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and in front of the Red Fort, Delhi, where devotees from across India and abroad will receive the global message of Guru Sahib’s martyrdom and its enduring significance.

Expressing gratitude to all Sikh sects, organizations, and Kar Sewa institutions, Kalka stated, “Today, the Sikh Panth stands united in spirit. Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s martyrdom teaches us that truth, righteousness, and justice may demand the ultimate sacrifice — one must give their head, but never bow it.”

Distinguished participants in the Nagar Kirtan included Baba Balbir Singh 96 Krori Budha Dal, Sant Baba Bachan Singh (Kar Sewa Delhi), Baba Joga Singh (Karnal), former Jathedar Bhai Jasbir Singh Rodewale, Sant Baba Seva Singh (Rampur Khera), Sant Baba Harnam Singh (Damdami Taksal), Baba Nagar Singh (Tarna Dal, Haryan Vela), Sant Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal, and Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

All participating Sikh organizations and spiritual leaders were honored by the DSGMC. S. Kalka also thanked S. Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee SGPC), Amritsar for his support.

The procession featured impressive Gatka (martial art) and band performances by school students dressed in Khalsa attire.

For the convenience of devotees, live location tracking of the Palki Sahib has been made available on the official website www.dsgmc.in, enabling the global Sikh community to spiritually connect with this divine journey.

The “Dharam Rakhiak Yatra” stands as a symbol of Sikh courage, harmony, and a message of peace for the entire world.
