– Dr. Balbir Singh announces ₹9 crore Rangla Punjab projects for Patiala Rural
– Extensive meetings held with representatives of 25 villages to ensure public participation
– Focus on education, health, and environment under Rangla Punjab mission
Patiala, May 15:
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has issued a stern warning to officials, asserting that any negligence in development works will not be tolerated. He made this clear while reviewing ongoing and upcoming projects under the Rangla Punjab initiative in Patiala Rural constituency.
During the day-long exercise, Dr. Balbir Singh conducted marathon meetings with representatives from 25 villages to discuss development projects worth nearly Rs. 9 crore. He emphasized that the Rangla Punjab mission—spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann—centers on transforming villages through progress in education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
The meetings, which lasted from morning to evening, were attended by representatives from Rohti Chhana, Rohta, Rohti Mauran, Rohti Basta Singh, Ichhewal, Ramgarh Chhana, Laloda, Ghamroda, Mandaur, Shamla, Rohti Khas, Hiana Kalan, Hiana Khurd, Dhangera, Kaidupur, Lang, Roungla, Kishangarh, Simbrau, Lot, Siona, Vikas Nagar, Babu Singh Colony, Sidhuwal, and Ranjit Nagar.
Dr. Balbir Singh assured that he is personally monitoring the progress of development works and that exemplary action will be taken against any officer found guilty of negligence or delay. He listened to village representatives’ concerns, demands, and suggestions, issuing immediate instructions to concerned officials for prompt action.
Addressing a key issue raised in many villages, Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted the need for efficient water drainage systems. He assured that, in collaboration with the Panchayat and Drainage Departments, a village-wise action plan would be prepared to clean, repair, and modernize existing drains and ensure proper rainwater management.
In terms of healthcare, the minister instructed the Civil Surgeon to organize regular village-level health camps offering free eye checkups, blood pressure tests, and the distribution of spectacles for senior citizens.
Dr. Balbir Singh also pledged to develop sports and recreational infrastructure in villages, including playgrounds, parks, and the installation of solar lights.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to environmental conservation, Dr. Balbir Singh said, “The environment is our collective responsibility. We will not only plant new trees but also care for and maintain existing ones through proper pruning and upkeep.”
The meetings were attended by ADC (General) Isha Singal, ADC (Rural Development) Amarinder Singh Tiwana, SP Palwinder Singh Cheema, SDM Nabha Dr. Ismat Vijay Singh, RTA Babandeep Singh Walia, DSP Manoj Gorsi, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagpalinder Singh, Deputy CEO Zila Parishad Amandeep Kaur, DDPO Shawinder Singh, BDPO Baljit Singh Sohi, and other senior officials. A large number of panchayat representatives also participated actively.
