Food Adulteration will not be tolerated

The state government has significantly increased the budget of the health department in the recently passed budget for the current financial year.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab Chetan Singh will visit Punjab from today itself to get acquainted with the real situation of government hospitals in the state.
He said that the purpose of these visits is to understand the situation of health institutions in detail and also to understand the needs of the people. He said that he would continue to do such tours in future and he announced that he will give a prize of Rs 51,000 out of his own pocket to the best performing civil surgeon.
Addressing a meeting of the officers of the department at Punjab Bhawan here today, the Health Minister said that those selling addictive medical drugs in the state would not be spared. He directed all the Civil Surgeons and Drug Department officials of the state of Punjab to inform all the medical store owners about the zero tolerance policy of the Punjab government regarding drug prevention and after informing them a massive checking campaign should be launched.
While presiding over the meeting of the officers of the department,he directed the authorities to look into the possibility of fixing the rate of health tests in the state of Punjab and appealed them to immediately bring the matter to their notice if anyone offered to pay commission from the tests so that action could be taken against such persons.
He further said that every effort would be made to provide diagnostic test facilities to the needy patients at affordable rates.
He asked the authorities to ensure the cleanliness of the hospitals at par with the cleanliness in their homes..
Mr. Jauramajra also directed to take a firm stand against food adulteration and said that some people in the state are playing with the lives of innocent people to make easy money by supplying adulterated food.He said that Punjab, under the leadership of Mr. Bhagwant Mann would not make any concession to the perpetrators of food adulteration.
During the meeting he lauded the service being rendered by the Civil Surgeon Patiala and said that he expected all the Civil Surgeons of the state to render their service with full dedication.
