-Education and Health Remain Core Priorities of Punjab Government: Dr. Balbir Singh

Patiala, 19 August:

Punjab Higher Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains reaffirmed that the Punjab Government is fully committed to strengthening and enriching the legacy of Government Mohindra College, one of the state’s most prestigious institutions. He assured that every possible step will be taken by the government to further enhance the college, which stands as a proud symbol of 150 years of glorious history. The Minister was speaking as the Chief Guest at the 150th Foundation Day celebrations of Government Mohindra College.

The event was also graced by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Patiala MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, and Director of Higher Education Harpreet Singh Sudan as special guests.

While felicitating 41 distinguished alumni of the college, S. He emphasized that the institution has played a pivotal role in educating generations of Punjabis and preparing them to become torchbearers of their times.

Speaking on the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, education and health have remained the topmost priorities of the Punjab Government. He added that sincere efforts are being made in both these sectors and assured that the government is equally committed to the development of Government Mohindra College.

Earlier, College Principal Dr. Maninder Kaur Sidhu welcomed the dignitaries and shared details about the institution’s rich legacy. A documentary film narrating the 150-year journey of the college, prepared by alumnus Bahadur Singh and his team, was released on the occasion, along with a commemorative souvenir.

Former Rajya Sabha Member and Ex-Chairman of the Minority Commission, S. Trilochan Singh, fondly recalled his student days at Mohindra College and shared personal experiences. Former Head of the English Department, Dr. Swaraj Raj, underlined the significance of the 150-year “Safar –e-Fakhr” and offered a formal vote of thanks. The stage proceedings were efficiently conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Sohel.
