Mohali, February 8: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Monday appealed to the people of Mohali to elect the Congress party candidates by a landslide victory in the Municipal Corporation elections to pave the way for all round and even development of the city.
The Health Minister while campaigning in favor of the Congress party candidates said that it was imperative for the Congress party to take over the reins of the Municipal Corporation in order to break the stagnation in the development of the city and take it to new heights. He said that the Congress party had a special bond with Mohali as it was the party whose governments had established Mohali city and then brought new projects for its development including making it a district.
Sidhu said that the Congress party was fully committed to the development of Mohali which was reflected in the fact that it had given tickets to the candidates in all the wards of the city who were very committed and had a social service background. He said that he would guarantee all these candidates that they would serve the people with their utmost dedication and give full attention to the development of their ward.
The Health Minister lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party, saying that it had betrayed the common man by supporting Kulwant Singh, a wealthy businessman and owner of several companies, so people would not listen to their leaders. Claiming that the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP were out of contention, he said that the candidates of these parties either did not file the nomination papers out of fear of public outrage or got them rejected purposely.
Mr. Sidhu claimed that the people have made up their mind to defeat the ruling group in the Municipal Corporation elections and to give victory to the Congress party.
