Notorious gang of armed robbers busted in Moga
Chandigarh September 29 : Punjab Police have busted a notorious gang of armed robbers in Moga who were planning to commit armed robberies and carjacking in Moga town. Police have arrested the six members of this gang and recovered 2 country made pistols .315 bore and .32 bore besides a stolen car and motorcycle from the gang members.
Disclosing this here on Tuesday DGP Punjab Dinkar Gupta said the gang had committed a large number of armed robberies and dacoities in districts of Malwa region. The investigations were on and the police was making efforts to arrest the remaining gang members.
Giving more details he informed that Moga police have arrested 6 accused of this gang namely Kulwinder Singh @Kinda of village Data, Gurjivan Singh @ Jugnu of village Singhawala, Akashdeep Singh @ Mani of Dharamkot, Salim Khan @Simmu, Krishan Bansal @ Gagna and Manvir Singh @ Mani (all Maur Mandi). Police have registered FIR no. 160 dated u/s 399, 402 IPC and 25 Arms Act at PS City Moga against all the accused.
Gupta said that a Ritz car (PB-10-EA-4789) snatched from Kulwant Singh in area of PS Dakha and a stolen motorcycle Bajaj Pulsar without number plate have also been recovered from the accused persons.
During investigations, the gang members have confessed that they had attempted an armed robbery in the area of old grain market, Moga, and injured a rice commission agent Rajesh Kumar. The victim suffered bullet injury in his stomach. Subsequently, police also recovered an unclaimed damaged white colored Scorpio bearing registration no PB-10N-2859 from the area of village Samalsar. On search of the vehicle, a country made pistol of .315 bore was recovered from inside the car. This vehicle was belonged to Swarnjit Singh of village Mehna, an associate of the gang. On that day, the gang members were having drugs inside the vehicle, when it lost control and met with an accident. The local villagers assembled on the spot and the gang sensing trouble ran away from the spot while abandoning their vehicle.
He revealed that one of the gang member namely Sukhdool Singh @ Sukha of village Dunneke, Moga, a notorious and absconding criminal presently settled in Canada, demanded ransom of Rs. 25 lakhs from Satnam Singh of village Lande, PS Samalsar. However, Satnam Singh did not budge to their demands. Therefore, the gang members fired upon his Swift Dzire car bearing registration no Pb29-X-8811 to intimidate him.
