Abohar,12 January: Former Member of Parliament and PPCC President Sunil Jakhar today said that with guru’s grace we Punjabis’ are fitted with an engine which has no backgear. “Once we start marching ahead there is no looking back,” he said.
He addressed a mammoth gathering in Canal Colony where the public was also addressed by Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, PWD Minister Vijayinder Singla and Congress leader Sandeep Jakhar.
The Congress chief said that he is thankful to the Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh for releasing the huge amount for the overall development of Abohar city and adjoining areas. He said that the amount will be spent upon veterinary hospital, fish seed farm, new government college, upgradation of two roads (Malout chowk to Hanumangarh bypass chowk and Malout chowk to Sitogunno chowk), project Kadam (development of non-motorised transport corridor for pedestrian, developing park), construction of urban primary health center, construction of new sports stadium and renovation of grain market.
Apart from these major developmental projects, the government also plans to rebuild Abohar Bus Stand.
He also termed the ongoing farmer agitation in Delhi as a ‘March-Moving-Ahead and said that now there is no looking back for the farmers.
Speaking during the ocassion Finance Minister Manpreet Badal said that there is no dearth of funds for overall development of Punjab and especially for Abohar. He gave the credit to Jakhar’s of bringing major developmental projects for Abohar.
PWD Minister Vijayinder Singla said that the students studying in government schools of Punjab are now not behind the private schools in any manner. “Apart from studies the students of government schools are also giving a tough competition to the private schools,” Singla said. He stated that new recruitment will be done after formation of new education policy.
He pointed out that with the traffic bottlenecks will reduce to a great extent with the widening of Malout Chowk to Hanumangarh bypass.
Congress leader Sandeep Jakhar speaking during the ocassion said that this is just a new beginning for Abohar as after the completion of this project many more are in the offing. He urged Abohar residents to extend every possible help for the ongoing sanitation program launched with the help of area residents in Abohar.
During the function Sandeep Jakhar along with all the others present observed two minute silence in memory of those farmers who lost their lives while fighting for their rights at Delhi border.
