In a sudden surge, UT reported as many as five deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday together with 71 fresh cases of the infection. This has pushed the death toll to 197 and the caseload to 13,331. The figures include 1127 active cases of the contagion.
According to a medical bulletin issued here, a 76 year old female R/o Sector 56, a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Chronic Kidney Disease, who tested COVID positive expired at GMCH 32 on Monday. A 96-year-old male R/o Sector 43, a case of SARI and Hypertension, who tested COVID positive, expired at GMCH 32 on Monday. A 61-year-old female R/O Sector 8, a case of, Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension, who tested COVID positive, expired at PGIMER on Monday. A 55-year-old male R/o Vikas Nagar (MauliJagran), a case of Diabetes Mellitus and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, who tested COVID positive, expired at PGIMER on Monday. An 81-year-old male R/o Sector 45, a case of Coronary Artery Disease and Arrhythmia, who tested COVID positive, expired at PGIMER on
Tuesday.
New cases of coronavirus have been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 109 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
