Says, Punjab Government Led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann Committed to Welfare of Every Section

The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to the welfare of all sections of society, including widows and destitute women. Providing details in this regard, Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that financial assistance amounting to ₹1042.63 crore has been provided to widows and destitute women in the state till January 2025.
Further elaborating on the matter, Dr. Baljit Kaur mentioned that approximately 6.47 lakh widows and destitute women in the state are benefiting from this scheme. She also highlighted that under various schemes, the state government has disbursed a total of ₹5555.94 crore till January 2025.
Cabinet Minister further informed that during the current financial year, a budgetary provision of ₹1086 crore was allocated for widows and destitute women, out of which ₹1042.63 crore has already been utilized by January 2025.
Dr. Baljit Kaur urged officials to ensure transparency in the implementation of government schemes meant for widows and destitute women. Additionally, she emphasized that every eligible beneficiary should receive the benefits of these schemes.
Cabinet Minister also stated that along with initiatives for women’s welfare, the Social Security Department provides financial assistance to persons with disabilities and dependent children.
