Chandigarh, August 14
Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 15 candidates, marking a significant step towards fulfilling the government’s commitment to providing employment opportunities to the youth.
The appointment letters were given to 9 Junior Scale Stenographers, 1 Clerk (Accounts), and 1 Clerk in the Excise and Taxation Department, and 4 Clerks in the Local Audit Wing of the Finance Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema said, “The government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has issued appointment letters to a total of 436 candidates for various posts through direct recruitment in the Excise and Taxation Department. This is a testament to our commitment to providing employment opportunities to the youth and strengthening our public services.”
The Minister detailed the recruitments, stating that 160 candidates were selected as Excise and Tax Inspectors, 142 Clerks, 39 Clerks (Legal), 25 Clerks (Accounts), 5 Clerks (IT), 56 Stenotypists, and 9 Junior Scale Stenographers.
Cheema emphasized that these appointments will not only fulfill the dreams of the youth to secure government jobs but also play a vital role in increasing the revenue for the Punjab Government. “These young professionals will be instrumental in driving growth and development in the state,” he added.
Also present on the occasion were Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Finance Commissioner Vikas Pratap, Commissioner of Excise and Taxation Varun Roojam, and Additional Commissioner of Excise and Taxation (Administration) Jiwanjot Kaur.
