-27,500 drivers trained in a span of about two years from June 2023 till now
-Road safety gets boost overcoming shortage of qualified commercial vehicle drivers

A significant initiative of the Punjab Government, Regional Driving Training Centre (RDTC) Malerkotla is changing the driving landscape of Punjab and encouraging a new generation of safety conscious skilled drivers.
Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar while disclosing this said that the Regional Driving Training Centre Malerkotla is a very unique initiative to increase the employability of the youth and make the roads safe for all. He said that this center’ great achievement lies in the fact that 27,500 drivers have been successfully trained here in a period of about two years.
The Transport Minister said that the Driving Training Center of Malerkotla has been providing its services continuously since June 2023 as a collaborative effort between the Transport Department of the state government and Ashok Leyland Limited. He said that by providing driving training to rural and urban youth at this center, the shortage of qualified commercial vehicle drivers has been filled and it will continue to provide its services in preparing qualified drivers in the future as well.
S. Bhullar said that this center has been designed with the aim of empowering the youth of the state, and increasing their employability. He said that proper training in driving ensures road safety and also reduces the potential accidents. He said that with skilled trained drivers, the system of compliance with traffic rules in the state has also been strengthened.
The Cabinet Minister said that this training centre reflects the state government’s commitment to enhance driving skills, promote road safety and uplift the status of drivers in society.
