“Yudh Nashiyan Virudh” Campaign Paves Way for Rehabilitation and Reintegration
Moga, April 21 – As part of the Punjab Government’s “Yudh Nashiyan Virudh” campaign, the district administration Moga is providing skill training to drug addicts admitted in the Government Drug De-addiction Centre Janer near Moga. This program is being run by Punjab Skill Development Mission, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society.
Under this initiative, 41 inmates are receiving free electrician training in two batches. The first batch started on March 29, and the second on April 7, 2025, with 26 and 15 trainees enrolled, respectively. The 45-day training aims to equip individuals recovering from addiction with employable skills, enhancing their chances of rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Upon completion, trainees will receive certificates valid for starting their own ventures.
Deputy Commissioner Sagar Setia emphasized that recreational activities and skill development are being encouraged among patients to support their recovery and rehabilitation. The district administration is committed to ensuring the availability of necessary resources, including medicines and test kits, and promptly addressing any issues in coordination with the health department.
The district administration Moga remains committed to implementing these initiatives effectively, working towards a healthier and more resilient community. Notably, the district administration had previously arranged trainings in fast food and bakery items manufacturing.
The district administration is dedicated to supporting the youth of the district and will provide loans and other necessary assistance to trainees. Trainees, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed gratitude to the Punjab Government, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and the district administration for providing this opportunity, stating they are happy with the training and plan to start their own work after completing treatment to live with dignity in society.
