– Chairs a meeting with Principals of Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Unani Colleges of Punjab
Chandigarh, January 17:
Medical Education and Reserch Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on Tuesday advocated to promote the indigenous systems of medicine, naturopathy and yoga for healthy body and sound mind of the residents of the state.
Presiding over the first meeting with principals of 16 Ayurvedic, 3 Unani and 1 Homeopathic colleges of Punjab at Medical Education Bhawan, Mohali, he suggested various measures which can be taken for increasing in the number of persons seeking benefits from these systems. He said that treatments for major ailments like Cancer, diabetes, hypertension etc can be prevented in the initial stages by using herbal medicines. He said that Ayurveda is the oldest method of treatment and its importance has increased in the present time when many people are suffering from various lifestyle diseases.
He emphasized that everyone should take concrete steps to make the common people aware for Ayurvedic treatment systems. The Minister said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is paying special attention to promote indigenous systems of medicine specially Ayurvedic. He said that Ayurvedic treatment methods can also be beneficial to free the youth from the bad effects of drugs.
He encouraged the private college managements of Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy to contribute more for the popularity of these treatment methods at their level too. The Medical Education Minister further said that people all over the world are aware of the Indian Ayurvedic and natural healing system and want to use this Vedic system for good health. He directed the Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur to explore such possibilities so that more and more foreigners and people from other states can be attracted to Punjab for Ayurvedic medical tourism.
During the meeting, the college principals gave many suggestions and informed the minister about the difficulties they are facing. Dr. Balbir Singh assured that efforts will be made to solve all kinds of problems. On this occasion the minister also released calendar of the year 2023 of Guru Ravidas Ayurved University.
The meeting was attended by Rahul Gupta (IAS) Vice Chancellor, Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Dr. Avnish Kumar DRME, Joint Directors Dr. Akash Deep and Dr. Dr. Puneet Girdhar, Dr. Jasbir Singh Registrar, Pharmacy Counsel, Dr. Sanjeev Goyal Registrar, Guru Ravidas Ayurved University and Controller of Examination Dr. Anju Bala.
