Students Form Human Chain at Historic Clock Tower in Fazilka to Raise Awareness Against Drugs
– Deputy Commissioner Appeals to All to Join the Anti-Drug Movement
Fazilka, April 17: As part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, the Fazilka district administration today organized a human chain at the historic Clock Tower in the city. This event was a part of a series of awareness programs being conducted across the district to combat drug abuse.
Students from Government Girls Senior Secondary School Fazilka and School of Eminence enthusiastically participated in the event. They symbolically encircled the Clock Tower by forming a human chain, sending a strong message of unity and determination in the fight against drugs.
Deputy Commissioner Fazilka, Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, IAS, specially arrived at the event to encourage the students. In her address, she emphasized that drug abuse is a serious threat to society and combating it requires active participation from every citizen.
She stated, “Drug addiction not only endangers human health but also disrupts the social fabric. We must all come together to fight this menace. This human chain is not merely symbolic but a true reflection of our collective commitment.”
The Deputy Commissioner further mentioned that multiple initiatives are underway at various levels within the district to curb drug abuse. She stressed that public awareness plays a key role in strengthening these efforts. She urged students to be vigilant and report any drug-related activity in their surroundings to the authorities, encouraging them to become responsible warriors of the campaign.
On this occasion, Deputy District Education Officer Mr. Parvinder Singh also addressed the gathering, stating that societal cooperation is essential to eradicate this evil.
Among the dignitaries present were Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr. Amandeep Singh Mavi, Chief Minister’s Field Officer Ms. Rupali Tandon, School Principal Ms. Sutantar Bala, Red Cross Secretary Mr. Sanjeev Sethi, DNO Vijay Pal, Mr. Gurchinder Singh, along with various administrative officials, teachers, parents, and representatives of social organizations. All pledged their full support to the anti-drug initiative.
The stage was gracefully conducted by Principal Rajinder Vikhona, who engaged the audience with his impactful and inspiring commentary.
