CHANDIGARH, April 25:
Leading from the front, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab VK Bhawra was among the first to donate the blood while inaugurating a special Blood Donation Camp organised at Punjab Police Headquarters here on Monday. ADGP Welfare Arpit Shukla was also present on the occasion.
The special camp under the banner of ‘Donate Blood and Save a Life’ was organised by the Welfare Wing of Punjab Police with the help of HDFC Bank. The Blood Donation camp was held under the supervision of Dr Priyanka Nagrath and a 14 member team from PGIMER Chandigarh.
DGP VK Bhawra appreciated all the volunteers, who came forward to donate blood and also pinned badges on the donors.
Giving details, ADGP Welfare Arpit Shukla said that as many as 165 donors turned up for donating blood at this blood camp of which 120 Police Personnel were found fit for blood donation. He said that apart from donating blood, 22 Police Personnel have also voluntarily pledged to donate their organs after death.
All the donors have been conferred with the certificate of appreciation, a rose stick and a gift for coming forward for this noble contribution to the society especially thalassemic, pregnant females and blood cancer patients, who need continuous transfusion supply for survival, ADGP Shukla said, adding that the donors were also given refreshment after the donation of blood.
Among others present on the occasion included HDFC Branch Banking Head Vineet Arora, HDFC Zonal Head Jasjit Katiyal, HDFC Zonal Head Corporate Salaries Munish Manglesh and AIG Welfare Sukhwant Singh Gill.
