As part of Punjab Police’s statewide efforts to enhance public services, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Thursday inaugurated and laid foundation stones of slew of projects in the district to develop a robust Police infrastructure for benefit of both public and police personnel.
The DGP, while inaugurating the state-of-the-art Cyber Crime Police Station, said that this will serve as dedicated hub for investigating and combating cyber-related offences including online financial fraud, identity theft, cyberbullying, hacking, and online scams. This Police Station has been equipped with latest technology and staffed by highly trained personnel specialised in digital forensics and cybercrime investigation, he added.
DGP Gaurav Yadav accompanied by DIG Patiala Range Mandeep Singh Sidhu, while taking a round of the newly established Police Station, interacted with all the police personnel and staff posted there. The Police station houses one SHO room, two investigators rooms, one CCTNS room and one Hawalat.
One complainant Ashok Bhandari from Dhuri, Sangrur also met DGP Punjab during his visit to Police Station Sangrur, expressing gratitude for the prompt action taken by Punjab Police in solving his cyber fraud case. Bhandari was defrauded of ₹1.29 crores through online trading, but the Cyber Team Sangrur swiftly recovered ₹30 lakhs after registering the FIR.
Apart from inaugurating the Cyber Crime Police Station, the other key initiatives launched include an expanded canteen with enhanced seating area for citizens visiting police offices, a public shed providing convenient seating for visitors near the office complex, and a renovated Gazetted Officers Mess for officers’ comfort.
Additionally, DGP Gaurav Yadav also inaugurated the upgraded District Police Complex, designed to handle increased public footfall efficiently. A foundation stone was also laid for dedicated public car parking, further improving accessibility.
“By investing in modern facilities, Punjab Police aims to enhance public services, foster camaraderie among officers, and ensure a safer environment for all,” said the DGP.
Later, DGP Gaurav Yadav joined the ‘Bada Khana’ lunch organized by the Sangrur Police, which provided an opportunity to officers of all ranks to interact with the Head of the Police Force and exchange ideas, thereby strengthening the bond that is essential for effective teamwork in the field.
By breaking bread together, the DGP strengthened the bond between senior officials and junior personnel, enabling officers to share their experiences, challenges, and insights with their leader.
The DGP also honoured high-performing Police officials and personnel of Patiala Range to encourage and motivate them to perform their duties more effectively.
Among others, SSP Patiala Nanak Singh, SSP Sangrur Sartaj Chahal, SSP Barnala Sandeep Malik and SSP Malerkotla Gagan Ajit Singh, were present in the meeting.
