Patiala, July 2:
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, conducted a field inspection today to review the water levels in major rivers flowing through the district—Ghaggar, Tangri, and Mirapur Cho. Accompanied by SDM Dudhansadhan Kripalveer Singh, SDO Drainage Department Rakvinder Singh, and other senior officials, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the on-ground situation and ongoing precautionary measures.
Dr. Preeti Yadav noted that rainfall in the upstream catchment areas has led to a moderate rise in the water level of the Tangri River. However, the level remains well below the danger mark. She assured the public that the district administration is maintaining round-the-clock surveillance and that there is no immediate cause for concern.
During the visit, Dr. Preeti Yadav reviewed detailed reports presented by the Drainage Department. SDO Rakvinder Singh confirmed that while the Tangri River has seen a slight increase in water flow, it does not pose a threat. The Ghaggar River’s water level is also low, and all precautionary protocols are in place. He reaffirmed that the department is fully alert and prepared to respond to any situation.
Interacting with local residents during the inspection, Dr. Preeti Yadav emphasized that the district administration, under the guidance of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fully committed to addressing any challenges the public may face. She further stated that the flow of all rivers is being closely monitored, and every department concerned is on high alert to prevent any untoward situation.
