Patiala, August 22:
Deputy Commissioner-cum-President of the District Red Cross Society, Dr. Preeti Yadav, today flagged off a newly purchased AC ambulance, acquired by the Red Cross Patiala at a cost of ₹15 lakh. The initiative aims to further strengthen healthcare facilities and provide timely emergency services to the residents of Patiala. On the occasion, SDM Dudhansadhan Kirpalveer Singh and Red Cross Secretary Dr. Pritpal Singh Sidhu were also present.
Handing over the keys of the ambulance, Dr. Preeti Yadav said that the vehicle is fully equipped with essential medical facilities to cater to patients during emergencies. She added that the ambulance will be operated by the District Red Cross Society for patients at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, at highly affordable rates, thereby ensuring accessible healthcare for all.
Highlighting the welfare work being carried out by the Society, Dr. Preeti Yadav informed that under the Roshan Punjab Project, medical check-ups of over 61,000 children across 213 schools in the district have already been conducted. The Red Cross has also been regularly supplying medical equipment to the Civil Surgeon’s office and Government Rajindra Hospital, while organizing blood donation camps from time to time.
Reiterating the Society’s mission, Dr. Preeti Yadav said that service to the people remains the core objective of the Red Cross, and continuous efforts are being made to expand its reach in the health sector.
