Administration Fully Alert, Every 500 Meters Monitored: DC Dr. Preeti Yadav
Patiala, September 5:
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav today visited Sarala Head to review the situation arising due to the rise of water in the Ghaggar river. She informed that around 30 villages have been affected by the water flow. She assured that the district administration’s first and foremost priority is the safety of human life.
Dr. Preeti Yadav stated that the water level has now started to recede, and the administration is keeping a strict round-the-clock vigil on the situation. She emphasized that every 500 meters, the condition is being closely monitored by officials. She also appreciated the cooperation of local residents who provided timely feedback, which greatly assisted the administration in its relief and monitoring efforts.
The Deputy Commissioner urged people to remain alert, not to believe in rumors, and to verify any information from authentic sources before sharing. She appealed to residents to immediately inform the administration for any kind of assistance or emergency support.
Dr. Yadav further informed that SDM Rajpura, Avikesh Gupta, has been visiting the affected villages personally to provide necessary help and ensure that relief measures reach the people on time. She also mentioned that she, along with senior officials, is conducting daily visits to all affected areas of Patiala district to closely monitor the ground situation.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also visited the medical camp set up at Bhagat Dana Ji Gurdwara Sahib. She interacted with the medical team and directed them to provide the best possible healthcare facilities to the affected residents without any delay.
Dr. Yadav explained that if there is no further rainfall in the catchment area of the Ghaggar river, the water level is expected to recede steadily in the coming days.
During her visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with local residents and MGNREGA workers and appreciated their work. On the occasion, DSP Harman Cheema, SE Drainage Rajinder Ghai, XEN Pratham Ghambir, and other officials were present.
