Corona blast in Patiala with 80 new positive cases total goes to 981

Jagdeep Chopra -Patiala ,July 19.The Royal district on Sunday witnessed Corona blast with reporting of 80 new positive cases in a single day spike taking total number of patients in Patiala district to 981.The Civil Surgeon, Dr. Harish Malhotra told here late this evening that today reports of 1450 samples were received out of which 80 found out to be positive. He said that out of these 51belonged to Patiala city, 1q to Rajpura, nine to Samana, three to Nabha, one to Patran and remaining to various villages in the district.He said that most of the new cases belonged to contact tracing cases from containment zones, some inter state travellers etc. He said that shifting of new cases in various facilities is on for treatment purposes with sanitization if their respective areas and tracing of their contacts too.He added that today 18 cured persons were also discharged from COVID Care Centre as they completed 17 days of quarantine period with two negative tests and thus now total of cured persons in the district has gone up to 394. He said that till 35, 273 samples have taken out of which 33,607 found negative, 981 positive, 394 cured, 15 deaths and 572 active cases.He added that on the instructions of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Health Minister, Balbir Singb Sidhu health department has set up an exclusive Plasma therapy cell in the government Rajindra hospital here and its formal inaugural is on July 21 I.e. Tuesday so he urged cured persons to come forward to donate their plasma in the cell as this will help in curing more persons as so far department is having 15 donors.
