NEW DELHI/ CHANDIGARH,Dec.12.2020: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar today met the protesting Punjab MPs at Jantar Mantar, who are demanding to convene Winter Session of Parliament to resolve the farm issues. He also urged the Union Government to shun it’s adamant behaviour to save the democracy and call the winter session without any further delay.
Talking with media persons here, Mr. Jakhar said that BJP led Union Government was running away to face the questions and it’s the first time in the history of world’s largest democracy the Parliament’s winter session was not being convened and Modi government was killing democracy.
If there is no discussion in Parliament then what is the use of constructing a new Parliament House, questioned he, while asking that if Bihar election was not affected by corona, then how come disease would only spread with the gathering of MPs.
Mr. Sunil Jakhar said that dialogue is the foundation of democracy but Modi government only believes in “Mann ki Baat” and never bothered to listen people’s voice. Thats why millions of farmers are protesting on Delhi roads in bone-chilling weather to save the democracy and the central government’s plan to mortgage the food security of the country to a handful of corporates.
Farmers were not only fighting against the three black laws, said he, but also fighting against the evil thinking that was only in the interest of a few corporate houses by forgetting crores of people.
Mr. Sunil Jakhar said that revolutionary spirit to resist any sort of injustice, tyranny and oppression is a part of DNA of Punjabis and for us our country comes first adding that nefarious plans to tarnish the image of farm movement would not succeed. He said that the beauty of our democracy is that a common man can become the Prime Minister of the country but today the same Prime Minister is trying to create such a situation that no common man could become the Prime Minister again.
Replying to a media query, Mr. Jakhar said that SAD would never be forgiven for the betrayal with Punjab just to keep safe a berth in union cabinet. Actually, Akali Dal’s leaders were corporates, who played politics in the name of farmers all the time but when the time came to stand by the farming community they betrayed them.
MP Mr. Jasbir Singh Gill, MLAs Kulbir Singh Zira and Kuljit Singh Nagra were also present on the occasion.
