SAS Nagar,December 31:In a bid to digitally equip the students of government schools, Congress led state government has provided Smart Phones under Captain Smart Connect Scheme to over 1.75 lac boys and girls studying in 10+2 in government schools statewide informed Cabinet Minister, Balbir Singh Sidhu.Handing over smart phones to SAS Nagar students in a district level function at DAC, Mohali, Balbir Singh Sidhu informed that today’s event marks the third and final stage of smart phone distribution to the government school students enrolled in 10+2 in the academic year 2020-21 but the scheme would continue in the next academic year as well.
As many as 5671 students of SAS Nagar have been provided smart phones, informed the Minister. Besides smart phones for senior students, the state government has provided 3500 tablets in government primary schools so that students get an exposure to digital interface early in life and can get level playing field as compared to their counterparts in private schools. Government schools are being upgraded to the level of Smart Schools and e-content for learning is being provided to the students so that they may continue their studies despite COVID challenge, said he.
The Minister was accompanied by Harkeshchand Sharma, Chairman Market Committee Kharar, KS Bedi former councilor, Rajiv Kumar Gupta, ADC(D) and officials of District Education Department.
