EXPOSES MISDEEDS OF CHANNI’S NEPHEW

PRESENTS ACE CRICKETER JASINDER SINGH BEFORE PEOPLE

CHANNI’S NEPHEW JASHAN HAD DEMANDED CASH IN LIEU OF JOB FROM PLAYER

ASKS CHANNI TO PEEP INTO HIS CONSCIENCE AS THIS DIRTY PLAY WAS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE

ASSERTS THAT STRICT LEGAL ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST THOSE WHO HAVE RUINED THE YOUTH OF STATE BY THEIR MISDEEDS

Chandigarh, May 31-

Exposing the former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s relatives for seeking money from a player in lieu of job, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday presented ace cricketer Jasinder Singh from whom bribe was sought and shared the vital facts regarding it before the media.

Interacting with the media persons here at Punjab Bhawan today, the Chief Minister said that Jashan, a nephew of the former Chief Minister had sought a bribe worth Rs 2 crore from Jasinder for giving him a job against an exam of PPSC cleared by him. He said that there was open sale of jobs during the tenure of Channi due to which the bright career of an outstanding player was ruined. Bhagwant Mann said that Jasinder and his father had met the former Chief Minister during a function in presence of former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.

The Chief Minister said Hussan Lal the then Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister had apprised Channi about the entire case. He said that Channi had agreed to bring the case to Cabinet for approval but had asked Jasinder to meet Jashan probably for the understanding. Bhagwant Mann said that when Jasinder and his father met the nephew of Channi he agreed to fulfill the word of the former Chief Minister but demanded Rs 2 crore from him for the job.

However, the Chief Minister said that when they expressed their inability to give the money the job was never given. He said that after this even the former Chief Minister had publicly reprimanded Jasinder and his father during a function. Bhagwant Mann said that due to this attitude of the former Chief Minister Jasinder was not able to get the job and was highly demoralized.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government will give job to Jasinder as per the stipulated norms of the state government for which the case is being studied. He also said that legal action will be taken against those who have ruined the youth of the state by their misdeeds. Bhagwant Mann said that anyone who was involved in sinister moves against the state and its youth will not be spared at any cost.

Quipping against theatricals of the former Chief Minister to feign ignorance about the case at the holy land of Sri Chamkaur Sahib, the Chief Minister asked him to peep into his conscience before making any statement as this dirty play was not possible without his knowledge. He said that without any doubt the entire Punjab and especially sports have been ashamed of the misdeeds of the family of the former Chief Minister. Bhagwant Mann said Jasinder, who is a former Ranji trophy player and had played in several coveted tournaments, had applied for a job through PPSC under sports quota.

The Chief Minister said that Jasinder, who was given B grading by the Sports department had obtained 198.5 marks against the cutoff of the sports category, which was 132.5 marks in the exam. He said that Jasinder was considered in the general category whereas he had applied under sports quota under which he was eligible for job as he had topped that category. Bhagwant Mann said that disheartened Jasinder had then called on the then Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who’s OSD MP Singh had narrated the entire case to him.

The Chief Minister said that Captain Amarinder Singh had asked the officers to examine the case and put it before the Cabinet for approval. However, he said that before that Captain was toppled and Channi was made the Chief Minister of the state. Bhagwant Mann said that after Channi assumed the charge of office the unholy nexus prevailed and the game of cash for jobs started in Punjab.

The Chief Minister pledged that he will not allow any sort of mafia to flex its muscle during his tenure. He said that severest of severe action will be taken against anyone who plunders the wealth of the people and the state. Bhagwant Mann assured the people of state that the corrupt leaders who were neck deep in corruption will be made accountable for their sins.

The Chief Minister said that Jasinder who is currently playing from Kings XI cricket team had narrated his entire woe to him during his recent visit to Dharmshala after which he had decided to expose the former Chief Minister. He said that on one hand his government had taken path breaking initiatives to promote the sports and sports culture in the state but on the other people like Channi had ruined the sports. Bhagwant Mann also listed the path breaking steps taken by his government like organizing the Khedaan Watan Punjab Dian, cash prize for outstanding and budding players along with others to promote sports in the state.
