Says vision of the document is to ensure equitable and sustainable growth for well being of every strata of society

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday unveiled Punjab Vision Document 2047’ and described as a roadmap for a progressive and prosperous state.
Releasing the document in a simple but impressive function here at his office, the Chief Minister underlined the urgent need to rejuvenate economy and fiscal health of the state. He said that this document envisages holistic development of the state when India completes 100th year of independence. Bhagwant Mann said that this document consists of nine departmentalized sections and 16 socio-economic indicator-based sub-sections focusing on the current status, major challenges that the State is facing and envisages short-term and long-term strategies to overcome these challenges.
The Chief Minister said that as per document a rate of growth of the economy at 7.5 per cent p.a. by 2030 and 10 per cent by 2047 will be achieved. He said that the document also aims at bringing the investment-GSDP ratio to 25 per cent by 2030 and restoring the investment-GSDP ratio of Punjab to 32 per cent by 2047 by improving the investment climate in the State and initiating the economic governance reforms for time-bound and hassle-free clearance of industrial projects. Likewise, Bhagwant Mann said that service sector/ sunrise services like information technology-enabled services (ITES), including BPO, online education, social media and entertainment will be developed and application of digital technologies in the service sector will also be incentivized.
The Chief Minister said that generation of decent jobs by boosting investment in all sectors and building a synergy between industry and educational institutions to improve employability and startup ecosystems will also be ensured through this document. He asserted that for improving the fiscal health of the economy, the suitable strategy is prudent fiscal management. Bhagwant Mann said that targets and strategies for different identified sectors have been framed keeping in mind the requirements of the State.
The Chief Minister said that the core sectors include economy, finances, industry, employment, agriculture, rural development, sustainable cities and communities, infrastructure, inclusive and equitable education, health infrastructure and provisioning, achieving gender equality, natural resources, affordable and clean energy, climate action and natural resource conservation, technological advancements, governance, safety and security and intelligent traffic management system. He said that the broader aim of this document is to cater to well-being of citizens for a dignified living. Bhagwant Mann asserted that the spirit of this vision is to eradicate poverty and hunger, ensure livelihood and shelter, provision of equitable and quality education and health facilities to all, adequate sanitation network and availability of electricity.
The Chief Minister said that these targets will be achieved with the aim to remove geographical and social disparities adding that this vision document aims at converging efforts of different administrative departments and agencies to achieve identified targets. He expressed hope that this document will bring greater synergies of action at every level of governance in larger public interest. Bhagwant Mann said that to achieve the targets highlighted in the document, the state government has already taken some prudent steps at different levels of administration.
The Chief Minister said that the state government strives to achieve the targets set in this document by the year 2030 and 2047 respectively. He said that the state Government will put in all possible efforts and resources to achieve the targets proposed in the vision document. Bhagwant Mann envisioned that the document will put the state further on the trajectory of High economic growth thereby giving major fillip to progress of Punjab and prosperity of its people.
