REITERATES COMMITMENT TO COMMEMORATE THIS EVENT IN A HUMBLE AND BEFITTING MANNER

COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS TO INCLUDE NAGAR KIRTANS, KIRTAN DARBARS AND OTHERS AT VARIOUS PLACES IN STATE

Chandigarh, September 25-

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday unveiled the logo for the state level commemorative events to be organized for observing the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has already chalked a number of events to commemorate this once in a lifetime event across the state in a befitting manner. He said that on the historic occasion of the 350th Martyrdom Day of the ‘Hind Di Chadar’ (Protector of India), Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Punjab Government will organize grand and historic events. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a series of events will be organized with deep reverence and respect across the state.

The Chief Minister said that a massive Kirtan Darbar will be held at Delhi on October 25 and on November 25 a major event will be held at Sri Anandpur sahib. He said that four nagar kirtan will start from November 20 from Jammu, Gurdaspur, Faridkot and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that all fours nagar kirtan will reach at Sri Anandpur sahib on the evening of November 22 adding various functions will be organised by the state government at the holy city from November 23 to 25.

The Chief Minister said that these historic events will primarily take place on the sacred land of Sri Anandpur Sahib under the auspices of the state government. He said that the underlying message of the series of events will be to encourage the people to follow the high ideals of secularism, humanism and spirit of sacrifice as preached and practiced by ‘Hind Di Chaadar’ – the Ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Guru ji laid down his life to protect the right of freedom to worship and preserve human rights along with secular values.

The Chief Minister said that Guru ji’s supreme sacrifice was unique and unparalleled in the history of mankind and symbolized the crusade against injustice, tyranny and oppression. He said that Bani of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji in Sri Guru Granth Sahib preaches oneness of mankind, universal brotherhood, valour, righteousness and compassion. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this series of events will be a real homage to the great Sikh Guru and inspire the people to follow their teachings in true spirit.

The Chief Minister said that this is a sacred occasion to re-dedicate themselves to serve society especially the poor and downtrodden with dedication and missionary zeal rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion. He appealed to the people to observe this occasion by displaying the spirit of harmony and social cohesion to strengthen the unity and integrity of our country in general and state in particular. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji should always be remembered by one and all and Guru Ji’s teachings must be disseminated in every nook and corner of the world.

The Chief Minister said that the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji is a lighthouse for the entire humanity adding that these events will help in perpetuating this glorious legacy on one hand and further cementing the ethos of communal harmony, brotherhood and peace. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the motive of these events is to ensure that the glorious heritage of the great Guru Sahib is perpetuated to the future generations. He said that the state government is committed to this noble cause and no stone will be left unturned for it.

On the occasion Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains, Tarunpreet Singh Sondh and Harbhajan Singh ETO, Lok Sabha MP Malwinder Singh Kang, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Advisor Tourism and Cultural Affairs Deepak Bali and others were also present.
