Dirba/ Cheema (Sangrur), May 22-
Making a scathing attack on the previous governments in the state for looting the people, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today said that the earlier regimes had sold the jobs to the youth whereas his government is providing the jobs in a transparent and fair manner totally on merit.
Addressing the gatherings after laying foundation stone of the Tehsil complexes at Dirba and cheema here today, the Chief Minister, while training his guns against the former Chief Minister and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi, said that his nephew used to seek Rs 2 crore for every job. Contrary to it, he said that ever since assuming the charge of office his government has given jobs to more than 29,000 youths completely on merit. Bhagwant Mann said that these leaders who have exploited the youth of the state will not be spared and they will be made accountable to the people of the state.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed for the well being of the people and no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. He said that the previous regimes had mercilessly plundered the state due to which state had lagged behind in progress. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government will recover every single penny from these corrupt leaders who had robbed the state.
The Chief Minister unequivocally said that it is unfortunate that instead of giving free rights of Gurbani to all the channels, the SGPC President is towing the line set by his masters to give it only to one channel. He said that what objections SGPC President has if the universal message of ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ (welfare of all) is disseminated through the ‘Sarb Sanji Gurbani’ across the globe. Bhagwant Mann dared the President of SGPC to explain what was more important spreading the message of Gurbani or extending largesse to their blue eyed channel.
The Chief Minister said that the President of SGPC who asks for votes for the Akali Dal in Lok Sabha polls has no moral right to give sermons to him. He said that the SGPC President must tell that giving the rights of telecasting of Gurbani poses threat to the religion. Bhagwant Mann said that this is a vague statement which needs to be condemned by one and all.
The Chief Minister unequivocally said that it is unfortunate that the SGPC is acting like a puppet in the hands of the Badal family and is being used by them for fulfilling their nefarious political designs. He said that the Badals have misused SGPC for stalling the ambitious project of the Medical College at Mastuana Sahib, which could have transformed the fortunes of the people of the region. Bhagwant Mann said that these people have no interest in the well being of the people but they are always bothered about their vested political interests.
The Chief Minister further said that the upcoming multi storey Tehsil complex at Dirba will be spread over nine acres of land and will house SDM office, DSP office, Tehsildar office, Fard Kendra, Tehsil office, BDPO office and others. He said that the complex will come up at a cost of nearly Rs 9 crore and will be completed within a year. Bhagwant Mann said that this project will immensely benefit the masses by delivering them citizen centric services in a time bound manner.
The Chief Minister said that such modern tehsil complexes will be built across the state to facilitate the people. He said that the earlier governments had never paid any heed towards this objective to serve the people. Bhagwant Mann said that the reign of the state was in the wrong hands earlier due to which the state had suffered adversely.
Slamming the centre for imposing value cut on wheat, the Chief Minister categorically said that filling the national Food pool is not possible without the hard working and resilient food growers of the state. He reiterated that every single penny of value cut imposed on farmers will be extracted from the centre with interest when the centre will seek supply of grains in terms of wheat and paddy for the national food pool. Bhagwant Mann said that the centre is completely indifferent towards Punjab and its farmers which cannot be tolerated at any cost.
The Chief Minister further said that the Union government is unnecessarily harassing the state b y depriving it of its legitimate share. He said that funds worth Rs 3000 crore under the RDF are still pending with the Union government adding that though the state government has completed all the formalities but then also the centre government has deliberately stalled the legitimate funds of the state including RDF and state’s share of GST. Bhagwant Mann said that such poor decisions are adversely affecting the centre-state relations.
The Chief Minister said that with the strenuous efforts of the state government the process to reverse the brain drain from Punjab has already started. He said that now the youth of the state are becoming an active partner of socio- economic growth of the state by returning from abroad too. Bhagwant Mann said that this path breaking initiative will prove to be a milestone for transforming the state and emerge as a frontrunner one in the country.

He said that the state government is promoting the industry in these areas in a big way and the day is not far when the rural areas of the state will emerge as industrial hubs across the country. Bhagwant Mann said that it will open new vistas of employment for the youth besides giving impetus to the socio-economic growth of the state.
The Chief Minister further said that with the active support and cooperation of people, the state government has taken several pro-people initiatives. He said that the government is providing 600 units of free electricity to the people in every cycle adding that for the first time in the state more than 90% of the households have received zero electricity bill. Bhagwant Mann asserted that this has benefitted the residents of the state in a big way by reducing the burden on their pockets.
Highlighting the significance of Sarkar Tuhaade Dwaar, the Chief Minister said that it was a flagship program of his government for the progress of the state and prosperity of its people. He said that this program finds no parallel across the country as no other state government bothers to spare so much time for the people by solving their problems at their doorsteps. Bhagwant Mann said that this program helps in quick resolution of public problems on one hand besides judging the performance of the government officers/officials on the other.
The Chief Minister said that this pro-people initiative, stipulates that the officers especially the Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners maximize their field visits, especially in villages, and interact with the people by going to villages. He said that it is the need of the hour to facilitate the people in getting their day-to-day works done easily besides ensuring good governance to them. Bhagwant Mann said that this will help in better functioning of the offices along with better acquaintance with the ground realities.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government will soon launch a bus service for the girl students studying in the government schools. He said that the aim of this scheme is to facilitate the girl students for completing their studies in the government schools. Bhagwant Mann said that this is a step forward towards ensuring best public transport for the girls across the state.
The Chief Minister also said that the state government will soon start bus service to connect the villages in the state. He said that besides facilitating the people from the villages to travel in the state it will also help in providing employment opportunities to the youth.
