ALSO EMBARKS PLANTATION DRIVE FOR CLEAN, GREEN AND POLLUTION FREE PUNJAB

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday launched a statewide blood donation and plantation camps at Virasat-e-Khalsa organized by the state government to mark the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji.
The Chief Minister said that this plantation drive is the best way to give tribute to the great Guru Sahibans who had given the eternal message, ‘Pawan Guru Pani Pita Mata Dharat Mahat’, to secure the environment besides ensuring ecological balance by planting trees. He said that this drive is being initiated in consonance with the commitment of the state government to encourage people to plant more trees for making Punjab clean, green and pollution free by enhancing green cover in the district. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that trees play a crucial role by conserving natural resources and improving the environment adding that it is high time for the people to come forward and join hands with the administration for planting saplings and upkeep them properly to enhance the green cover in the district.
The Chief Minister also administered the organ donation pledge to the people and health department staff, urging everyone to follow the noble cause. He said that this initiative aims to promote the values of selflessness and generosity, as exemplified by the Ninth Guru Sahib ji. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that this initiative will create awareness about the importance of blood and organ donation, besides encouraging people to come-forward for the noble cause.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that blood donation was the biggest service that an individual can render to the society as it could help in saving many precious lives. He said that every person must realize that every blood donor was a hero due to which they should regularly donate blood after every three months. Bhagwant Singh Mann also interacted with the blood donors and lauded them for their immense contribution to society.
