Punjab Government to set up Punjabi Film Development Council
Move aimed at promoting Punjabi art, language and Culture
CM Channi honours Punjabi Singers, Actors and Musicans with Shan-E-Punjab lifetime Awards
Mohali, December 16; Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh announced to set up Punjabi Film Development Council, Punjab to promote Punjabi language and Culture.
CM Channi said that proposal in this regard would be cleared in the coming cabinet meeting. He said that it is the need of hour to promote the glorious cultural heritage of the state through films, which are the latest and most effective way of communication nowadays. CM Channi envisioned that it will go a long way in showcasing rich cultural heritage of Punjab across the globe.
The Chief Minister said this during a Award Function organised here today at Chandigarh University, Gharuan to honour Punjabi Actors, Singers, Musicians and background Artists for their contribution to Punjabi culture.
During this SHANE-E-PUNJAB function organised by Punjabi Film, Music & Television Guild Society and Punjab Tourism Department, the Chief Minister honoured Punjabi Folk Singer Late Gurmeet Bawa and Sardool Sikander with Shan-E-Punjab tribute Award and Famous Punjabi musician Charanjit Ahuja and Punjabi Actor Gaggu Gill with Shan–E-Punjab lifetime achievement awards.
Prominet amongst present on the ocassion included Sidhu Mooselwala, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol,
Punjabi Film Actors Yograj Singh, Upasna Singh, Satinder Satti, Ranjit Bawa, Master Saleem.
Dinesh Speed Records Secretary Punjabi Film, Music, TV Guild Society thanked the Punjab Goverment and Chandigarh University fo supporting this function.
