Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and National Convener of AAP Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday mourned the sad and untimely death of MLA Tarn Taran Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal and termed it as a colossal loss for the party and the state.

He said that though late Dr. Sohal was suffering from a fatal disease, he continuously served the masses with missionary zeal due to which he was very popular amongst the masses. Arvind Kejriwal said that he was a loyal foot soldier of the party, who was committed to its ideology of serving the masses adding that the party was with the family of the deceased leader in this hour of crisis.

Arvind Kejriwal said that in the death of Dr. Sohal the party has lost a balanced and an experienced leader, who believed in clean and value based politics. He described Dr. Sohal as a fine human being, an upright politician, a committed social worker besides a disciplined soldier of his party who always played a pivotal role in ensuring overall development of the state especially the border area and the welfare of its people. Arvind Kejriwal said that the outstanding services rendered by Dr. Sohal as a Doctor and MLA for the progress and prosperity of the state will be ever remembered by one and all.

In his address the Chief Minister, accompanied by senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, said that the late MLA was not a person but an institution adding that he devoted his entire life to the service of weaker sections of the society. He said that the sad demise of Dr Sohal was one of the most tragic incidents of his life as the MLA was very close to him. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the untimely death of the MLA was an irreparable loss for the party which had lost its energetic leader who was very popular amongst the general masses.

The Chief Minister said that the immense popularity of Dr Sohal can be well gauged from the presence of every section of society on his bhog and antim ardas. Reiterating the commitment of the state government to ensure all round development of Tarn Taran assembly segment, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he was duty bound to accomplish the works initiated by late Dr. Sohal.

The Chief Minister said that though we console someone by relating this tragedy to the ‘Order of the Almighty’ but in reality it was extremely painful to bear this pain and distress. He said in the death of late Dr. Sohal, a void has been created which was difficult to be filled adding that the late MLA was a popular mass leader, who believed in clean and value based politics. Expressing heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, Bhagwant Singh Mann prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family members to bear this huge loss in this hour of crisis.
