Captain Amarinder Singh was born on 11 March 1942 within the royal household of the erstwhile Patiala princely state. They are counted among the many sturdy satraps of the Congress. This is his second time period because the Chief Minister of Punjab. Prior to this, he was the Chief Minister of the state from 2002 to 2007.
Capt. Amarinder Singh has served in Army from June 1963 to December 1966 after graduating from National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy. He also participated in 1965 Indo-Pak war.
