HOSHIARPUR, MAY 9- The local police have solved the blind murder’s mystery of Manpreet Kaur of Khadiala Sainian, whose bullet ridden body was found on April 22, by arresting deceased’s younger brother and his friend along with weapon and three SUVs, used in the crime.
The accused have been identified as Manpreet’s younger brother Harpreet Singh alias Happy of Takhtupura village, Ferozepur and accomplice Iqbal Singh of Daulewal village, Moga.
Interacting with media persons here at Police Lines, Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal said that the body of Manpreet sustaining nine bullets found at Sikri Adda in Bullowal Police Station following a case under sections 302, 34 IPC and 25, 54 and 59 of Arms Act was registered against unidentified persons. After that two special teams were constituted to crack this heinous crime. SP (Investigation) Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu headed the first team along with DSP (Investigation) Rakesh Kumar and CIA Inspector Shiv Kumar and second team was led by DSP (rural) Gurpreet Singh with SHO Bullowal inspector Pardeep Kumar.
The SSP said that while probing all the aspects thoroughly on the basis of professional and technical inputs related with crime, the teams were also camped in Moga and Ferozepur districts for five days to trace the crime which led to arrest of accused on May 7.
Revealing about preliminary investigation, SSP told that Harpeet was kingpin of the crime who hatched the conspiracy to kill his sister Manpreet, who married against wish of the family nearly eight years ago and was living at her in-laws house in Khadiala Sainian. It was come to fore that Manpreet had filed a divorce petition against her husband Pawandeep Singh and wanted to rejoin her family which was not accepted to Harpreet. Hence, he planned a conspiracy to kill her sister.
A day before committing the crime, the SSP said, Harpreet and his friend Iqbal conducted recee of area in Innova Car and next day, they reached in Scorpio, which was driven by Iqbal while Harpreet hid himself in the back seat. On their way, they snatched a mobile from a person and made a whatsapp call to Manpreet through that phone to outsmart the police. Iqbal asked Manpreet to accompany in his car as he wanted to talk something important, said the SSP adding that as soon as Manpreet sat on the back seat Harpreet strangulated her with scarf whereas Iqbal drove the car. When Manpreet got unconscious, Harpreet pulled her out of car near Sikri Adda and pumped nine bullets from .32 bore revolver and both accused fled away by dumping body on roadside.
Mahal said that both accused had also followed Manpreet a month ago in Fortuner too. SSP told that the Scorpio used in crime was borrowed from someone by accused. The police have procured four-day remand of accused from the local court. He said that accused Iqbal had already been booked under sections 379/411 IPC, 21 (1) of Mining Act.
