Chandigarh, April 14, 2021:
The crime branch of Chandigarh police arrested the security guard of Axis Bank currency chest, who has stolen Rs 4.04 crore from the cash trunk three days ago. The stolen amount has also been recovered from the accused, said Inspector Harinder Singh Sekhon of Crime Branch.
The accused, Sunil Kumar (33), a resident of Morni village in Panchkula, will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
Inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO of Sector 34 police station said, “The crime branch of the UT police has arrested the accused. Now, they will produce him before the court. The crime branch is investigating the matter.”
The security guard, who stolen the cash after breaking the cash trunk, was on run. The theft incident was also recorded in the CCTV footage installed at the bank. The police even had questioned his family members.
