CHANDIGARH, January 03, 2021 : Punjab Congress president Mr Sunil Jakhar today lamented Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s theatrics to unsuccessfully project himself on side of protesting farmers, while daring him to instead pass Punjab-like Bills in his state Assembly to negate the draconian Farm Laws.
He said farmers haven’t forgotten Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) insensitivity towards farmers ever since the 2015 tragic incident when a hapless farmer, Gajinder Singh, committed suicide by hanging in Kejriwal’s presence during one of AAP’s rallies and Kejriwal continued his speech even after the ill-fated incident.
The state congress chief advised Kejriwal to ebb his melodrama as farmers protesting at national capital’s border aren’t interested in AAP’s toilets or food but want strong action against the black Farm Laws.
Dubbing Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as essentially the B team of BJP, Jakhar asked the Delhi CM why he had not passed any law in his state to counter the anti-farmer and unconstitutional Farm Bills till now.
“It’s worth ridiculing that the man responsible for implementing a farm law in his state was now pretending to be a sympathiser of the victims of that very legislation. Farmers now cannot be taken for a ride. They need tangible action against farm laws and not stagecraft, ” Mr Sunil Jakhar said.
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, he said, has shown the way by passing resolution in the state assembly against these laws. Kejriwal needs to answer what stops him from replicating what Punjab has done, ” the Congress chief said.
Jakhar also hit out at Kejriwal’s repeated albeit unsuccessful attempts to spread false and vicious propaganda against Captain Amarinder Singh with his lies regarding the committee set up by the Central Government to discuss agricultural reforms.
“It is a matter of record that the Farm Laws were neither discussed nor presented at any of the meetings of the said committee, ” the state Congress chief said while adding that Captain Amarinder’s integrity is unmatched. Jakhar also rubbished as hilarious claims of Punjab Chief Minister meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue of the ED’s case against his son.
