Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary today said that the posts of Professional Counselors should be filled in Women Cells throughout Punjab.
Chairing a meeting with Punjab State Women Commission Members here today, Mrs. Chaudhary said that she will write a letter to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab to fill these posts at utmost urgency and also called a report in 15 days in this regard. Terming this matter critical, she also called a status report pertaining to filled and vacant posts of Counselors in Women Cells.
Stressing upon the need to provide respite to Senior Citizens in this pandemic era, Mrs. Chaudhary said that District Social Security Officers (DSSOs) and Child Development and Program Officers (CDPOs) should be held responsible to provide the benefits of social welfare schemes to Senior Citizens. She also insisted a sensitization drive regarding public welfare schemes throughout the state and Seminars will be conducted at district levels in first phase. She also reviewed various programs and activities of the commission.
Prior to this, Chairman of Punjab State Women Commission, Mrs. Manisha Gulati raised the issue about the dire need of professional counselors in Women Cells. She also informed about the various cases and action taken by the commission to safeguards the interests of women.
