CHANDIGARH, August 5:
Amidst the heightened security to ensure peaceful celebrations of forthcoming Independence Day-2024 as committed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police on Monday conducted a cordon and search operations (CASO) at and around all the District and Sub-Divisional Courts across the state to ensure foolproof security arrangements at all the Judicial Complexes.
The checking was conducted from 11am to 2pm simultaneously in all the 28 Police districts of the state on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that the CPs/SSPs were directed to personally monitor this operation and make sufficient number of Police teams to carry out checking under the the supervision of SP rank officers. He said that CPs/SSPs were also asked to conduct checking of all suspicious persons in and around the court complex, besides, carrying out checking of all the vehicles parked around the complex by using the Vahan app.
He said that Police teams were also asked to make sure that Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMDs) and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTVs) cameras installed at premises of Judicial Complexes are functioning.
Sharing more details, the Special DGP said that Police teams have frisked as many as 1421 suspicious people found roaming around the court complexes. As many as 1850 vehicles stationed at different parkings around court premises were also checked during which Police teams have also issued 62 challans and impounded one vehicle.
He said that the purpose to carry out this checking was to ensure foolproof security arrangements at Judicial complexes in the state to tighten noose around the anti-social elements.
Meanwhile, CPs/SSPs are also directed to increase Police Patrolling around such vulnerable places to intensify surveillance on anti-social elements.
