Power substations will provide improved & stable electricity supply to people of Sunam constituency, says New & Renewable Energy Sources Minister

With an aim to provide improved electricity supply to the people of Sunam constituency, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training, New & Renewable Energy Sources, Governance Reforms Minister Mr Aman Arora, inaugurated two 66KV power substations on Friday. These substations were constructed at a cost of Rs 13.36 crore.
The 66KV power substation in Sunam city was built at a cost of Rs 8.52 crore, while the Eilwal 66KV power substation was completed within Rs 4.84 crore.
Mr. Aman Arora stated that the construction of these power substations began approximately one and a half years ago, and they have now been officially dedicated to the public upon completion. This initiative will ensure a reliable electricity supply for a significant number of urban and rural residents.
He said that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has effectively and systematically worked over the past two and a half years to eliminate electricity shortages through meaningful and planned manner. He emphasised that these projects will help to meet the demands of domestic, industrial, and agricultural consumers.
With the commissioning of the Eilwal power substation, the villages of Eilwal, Kammomajra Kalan, Kammomajra Khurd, Kheri, Gaggarpur, Sajuma, and Sohian will receive direct benefits, while Khurana, Kaludi, Barwal Khurd, and Naagri villages will gain indirect benefits. The Eilwal village panchayat had provided one acre of land to PSPCL for the establishment of the grid.
Meanwhile, Mr Aman Arora has also announced that a project to widen the 4.30-KM long road from the main highway through Kheri village to Eilwal will soon begin. The project aims to increase the road’s width from 10 feet to 18 feet and will be carried out at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore.
