CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Attends ‘Ek Sham Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam’ Programme in Rajpura, Patiala

RAJPURA; 31st August 2026:

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is committed to returning every rupee of public money to the people through welfare and development initiatives, while making it clear that no pressure from opposition parties can derail the government’s pro-people agenda. During a gathering at Ek Sham Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam in Rajpura, he said his responsibility is to ensure employment for every household, treatment for every elderly person and quality education for every child, while assuring women who have not yet received the Sanman Rashi that they too will receive payments from July after completing the required formality.

Addressing the gathering during Ek Sham Shiv Ke Naam, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said Punjab belongs to everyone and its centuries-old tradition of celebrating every festival together must be preserved. “Punjab is a bouquet in which every colour of flower is there and everyone prospers on this sacred land. Our land is so fertile that every seed can grow here, but the seed of hatred can never grow because our unity is very strong,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab has always set an example of communal harmony, with people participating in each other’s religious and cultural celebrations. “In Punjab, all festivals are celebrated together, be it Ram Navami, Gurpurab or Eid. Due to this, the bond of communal harmony, brotherhood and fraternity is very strong here,” he said.

Highlighting his government’s initiatives to facilitate pilgrimage, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Our government has started the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana, under which pilgrims are being facilitated to visit major religious destinations including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib and others. Now, the ambit of this scheme has been widened and holy cities like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Salasar Dham and Khatu Shyam Ji have also been added.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that free transport, boarding and lodging facilities are being provided under the scheme, enabling people to pay obeisance at revered shrines without having to bear the financial burden of the journey.

Talking about the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana, the Chief Minister said, “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that from July 1, the women of the state have started getting money in their accounts under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana. Every woman is entitled to ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to Scheduled Castes are entitled to ₹1,500 per month.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Around 75 lakh women have already started getting money as a gratitude from the state government.”

Taking on the opposition, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann cautioned people, stating: “If they are voted to power, they will discontinue all the pro-people initiatives started by the AAP government,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that his government has consistently prioritised public convenience and welfare, citing the closure of toll plazas as one such measure. “Keeping public convenience as the top priority, the government has shut down 19 toll plazas, resulting in daily savings of approximately ₹70 lakh for the common people. More than 70,000 government jobs have been given to youth in a transparent manner, 90% of households are getting free power, farmers are getting electricity even in the daytime and around 44,000 kilometres of roads are being constructed,” he said.

On healthcare, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the AAP government has taken a major step towards ensuring comprehensive and affordable medical care through the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna. “The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna is the first-of-its-kind scheme in the country that provides cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh for every resident family in Punjab. It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Punjab is the first Indian state to offer such comprehensive healthcare coverage. This historic move is aimed at providing universal healthcare to all the families of the state, and lakhs of people have already availed free treatment under the scheme,” he added.
