8 more deaths and 294 fresh COVID cases in Patiala district

Patiala,September 17.Without getting any relief from attack of deadly Novel Corona Virus disease ‘s spread continous in Patiala district as on Thursday it took eight more lives taking total number of Corona deaths in district to 270, On the other hand with reporting of 294 new positive cases today Corona patients total tally has gone upto 9, 762.The number of  total active cases has also shot upto 2,149 in the district and as today 155 more patients were sent home after discharging them from various facilities as they cured totally and with this number of cured patients in the district also increased to 7,343.The Civil Surgeon, Dr. Harish Malhotra while providing complete details late this evening here told that today eight more deaths have reported from district out of these three reported from Patiala and one each respectively from Rajpura, Samana, Nabha, Dudhan Sadhan and block Kauli. He added these includes two women and all the patients are admitted into various hospitals undergoing medical treatment for their Chronic diseases but got Corona infection & died. He said that the last rites of the dead have got performed strictly as per COVID-19 guidelines and norms issued by the government.Whereas giving break up about new positive cases he said that today reports of 2,800 samples were received out of these 294 new positive cases were received. He added that these includes two reports from SAS Nagar Mohali and one each respectively from PGI, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Sangrur.Dr. Malhotra further told that out of these 144 came from Patiala, 42 from Rajpura, 21 from Nabha, 5 from Samana, 16 from block Bhadson, 15 from block Harpalpur, 20 from block Kauli  9 from block Kalo Majra, 7 from block Dudhan Sadhan, and from block Shutrana 15. He said whereas 55 cases came from contact tracing of earlier positive cases and 239 came from containment zone areas and OPD’s with Flu Symptoms and their shifting and admissions in Covid care centers,  isolation facilities and home quarantine is under process as per new COVID-19 guidelines and norms issued by the government besides contact tracing and sanitization of respective areas exercise is also on.The Civil Surgeon added that after watching the situation with no reporting of new cases today micro containment restrictions were removed from Rajpura’s Vikas Nagar and Sat Narayan temple areas. He said that today 2,400 new samples have been collected from the district and sent for testing in Lab, whereas reports of 1,700 samples are still pending.He added that it came to the notice of health department that in the district some of RMP ‘s are asking their patients to under go Corona antibodies tests and this is not good and invite punitive action.
